Welcome to the official website for the annual Geocaching Mega Camping Event, Piratemania. This is the place to come to find out about all the fab stuff we have planned for Piratemania V! With approximately 600 attendees last year, we went Mega and for Piratemania V we’re aiming for a massive increase – but we need you to log a Will Attend now, please!
Good clean family fun – that means fun for children AND adults!

Arrive at Piratemania and you are warmly greeted and assigned to a TEAM. You can just go about your business chatting to fellow pirates, but as you do, keep an eye out for DOUBLOONS. If you find any, take them to your team captain… the team with the most doubloons at the end wins – and bragging rights ensue for 12 months!
Pirates have a lot in common with Geocachers. They meet up, study maps and hunt for treasure! And when they’ve found it, they have some scran and a jug of grog…
The whole weekend is “as piratey as possible” and that happens the moment you arrive at camp. Massive pirate flags welcome you in, and you’re greeted no doubt by a mad crew dressed up like a series of extras from Pirates of the Caribbean!
There’s lots more to the event than clothing, though – there’s plenty of caching to be done!
And cakes to be eaten…
An outbreak of scurvy hit the 2011 event, so we had to take in copious amounts of Vitamin C – unfortunately, we only had mad hot chillies, still, if you ate one, it won you DOUBLOONS!
There’s always a little glitz…
and too much grog…
but mayhem all around, and plenty of smiles…
it’s quite simple really… PIRATEMANIA!

We’ve never been to Piratemania before but have decided we’d love to join you this year. How do we book camping, do we go to the Peak Gateway website and do it direct or through you?
