About the venue

PIRATEMANIA 2013 – we will be at Stratford Race, Stratford upon Avon! Info coming soon

The last three Piratemania events were held at Peak Gateway, Ashbourne, Derbyshire …..

Since 2005, improvement works have continued at Peak Gateway Leisure Club to create a family Caravan and Camping site. The location of the site is ideal for access to the Peak National Park with its beautiful scenery and unspoilt country walks. Access to Ashbourne town centre shopping is also easy from the site either by road or foot path, known as Bonnie Prince Charlies Way, which runs through the middle of the site.

Traffic on the site is light and governed by a 10 mph speed limit. This helps provide a safe environment for children on the site.

Our recently improved touring pitches offer great views and lots of spaceWith the large hard standing pitches, level dedicated tent field, and hi-specification holiday homes, all situated in a countryside setting, this is an ideal getaway, whether for a long weekend or a weeks stay.

The facilities provided at the site make it one of the best sites in the area and you will find most of these facilities in the main building housing the reception and bar. Various events take place at weekends and bank holidays throughout the year, details of which can be found in the Events section of the Web site.

A great, safe playpark is available for our younger guestsRecently added facilities at the site include new modernized heated shower block with push button hot water supply (all free of charge). Refurbished heated 24 hour toilets in main building. Improved tent field toilet block with separate pot-wash room. We also have a small shop selling essentials (milk, bread, butter, toiletries and basic camping equipment) and having a lending library with books and videos. We also have ukgeocachers.co.uk on site providing the first ever walk in Our spacious pitches allow you room to spread outGeocaching shop. If you have never heard of geocaching then you will be pleasantly surprised to hear that it’s a rapidly expanding activity that’s ideal for campers and walkers.

These are basic simple things to think about. Your camping equipment needs will vary depending on where you will be camping. Camping on the beach has different needs then camping in the mountains. You should always start your foray into camping small. Take a day trip somewhere close to your home. Check out the surroundings and the camp sites. Get an understanding of what the equipment needs will be.,
