Piratemania doesn’t do things by half.. neither does it do anything that could be construed to be normal. Not a pub meet the night before, but some random stupidity and high jinx that tends to get us all in bother!
INITIATION (this was held in 2012)
The event where landlubbers are converted into pirates in the most rowdy and reckless manner. This is not an innocent pub meet – this is pure mayhem on the streets – this WILL get in the newspapers we PROMISE!!!

THE MISSION
In a square full of hundreds and hundreds of pirates, only a brave or foolhardy landlubber would walk where cachers fear to tread. But there’s always one, ready to give it a go…
At the posted co-ordinates will be placed A TABLE, and on the table at midday will be placed an open BOTTLE OF RUM, and beneath the rum will be a sign saying TAKE ME.
When a muggle decides to take the bottle of rum, they have grasped the nettle and become… A PIRATE!!!
They will hear the sound of the PIRATE HORN which inducts them into a life of piracy.
Then we adorn them with gifts as a celebration of their new life!
BRING ALONG A GIFT FOR THE NEW INDUCTEE…
MEDALS, GARLANDS, BUNCHES OF FLOWERS, CERTIFICATES, TROPHIES PERHAPS!!!
We will bow to them and clap and cheer, and take lots of photos and curtsey to them, and they shall, like last year, end up in the local newspapers!
